Welcome to the first part of our new blog! For the next couple of weeks I will be posting articles on how to increase your businesses exposure on Google.
We all know that Google is important but do you know how important? Google accounts for around *90% of all online searches in the UK and *85% worldwide! These are not numbers to ignore if you're trying to run a business.
So how do we get this worldwide giant to like us, or even notice our business?
Well, it's simple. Google wants us to use its products and listen to what they're telling us about Search Engine Optimisation - There are no other shortcuts, no backdoor tricks to help us increase our businesses visibility and certainly no magic wand -
Its quite simply listening to what they're telling us and follow their rules - don't follow their rules at your own peril. After all we need Google to be our friend more than they need to be ours!
We will cover SEO in another post, but for now I wanted to take a look at one of the MANY Google products that are available for Businesses - and it's FREE! - So if someone calls you up and tells you you need to pay to be on a map, or promises you first page ranking, think about what I've said.
Most of Googles products are FREE and the only way to guarantee a business to get to the top of Google (on certain searches) is PPC (Pay Per Click Advertising) - Once again this is a subject for another time..
There are many things that you can do as a business, and that your web developer can do to increase your likelihood of ranking highly in Google - but be aware that no one can guarantee this - so tread cautiously if someones telling you otherwise.
So lets get to is....
Google My Business (Formally Google Places)
